You guessed it! The reason why they’re called Rhinoceros Beetles is that it has horns on its head—a close resemblance to the rhinoceros of the wild. Their horns project forward from the middle of the thorax and the other from the top of the head.
Their horns are so strong that Rhinoceros Beetles can scour through certain parts of the jungle and even through the litter. It uses its horn to dig its way out of a rather sticky situation by burying itself underground—escaping at a moment’s notice.
Despite their rather violent name and physical attributes, Rhinoceros Beetles are harmless. They don’t bite, sting, or hurt you with their horns. Their horns are normally used for protection and fighting other males for a feeding site or mating.
